The first concert in the 2008-2009 Sights & Sounds series features the Blue Mountain Ensemble in an eclectic program of works by Kuhlau, Brahms, Prokofiev, Foss and others. The program was designed to accompany the Far From Home museum exhibit, which presents 20 artists of diverse national and cultural origins whose work explores the universal theme of displacement.
The Blue Mountain Ensemble is based in central North Carolina and brings together very familiar faces to classical music audiences of this region. Its core members Michael Burns, Carla Copeland-Burns, and Elizabeth Tomlin are active artists in numerous venues throughout the state and enjoy nationwide exposure as guest performers and teachers.
